Who's Bunduz?

Set up in 2004 and later incorporated as a limited company, Bunduz Limited is licensed as a tour operator under certification number 045929 by the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife. The company was founded by Mukhtar Sidi and Fredrick Kariuki. Mukhtar is a budding tour operator and a business and tourism management graduate of the United States International University -Africa (USIU-A), where he also served as a student leader. A business graduate from Africa Nazarene University, Kariuki, on the other hand, wields over six years' experience in business development, marketing and projects management.

What tours does Bunduz organise?

Bunduz specialises in budget camping and lodge tours as well as other outdoor excursions for groups. Transfer for many of the tour packages are usually via all-terrain trucks. Among tours organised by Bunduz include:

• Various New Year's eve annual tours to Lamu Island;
• 2005 3 nights, 4 days Easter tour of Meru National Park and Samburu Game Reserve;
• Various tour packages to Maasai Mara Game Reserve, the Aberdares National Park, Amboseli, Tsavo, Hell's Gate, Lake Naivasha, Zanzibar Island, Serengeti and Ngorongoro National Parks (Tanzania), among others;
• 2006 Malindi & Watamu New Year's Eve tour;
• 2007 Easter Camel Safari to Yare, Samburu;
• 2006 and 2007 editions of the Rhino Charge.
  

Bunduz also organises other tour less common excursions such as rock climbing at Lukenya, sightseeing and urban sightseeeing tours to Kampala and Dar es Salaam, among others. Cultural tours can also be organised.

Who does Bunduz target?

Bunduz targets anyone bent on having fun and enjoying the outdoors. Although many of our tours attract the young urban professional (yuppy) market mostly, a good number of our patrons do not fall in this category. A good number of our signups join in as individuals, or as small groups. We also undertake custom-made group packages for, say, corporate delegations, clubs and societies.

How're Bunduz clients like?

Our tours are usually patronised by mature, friendly people of all races. Most of them hail from Nairobi and the adjoining urban townships. Of About 70% of our clientele is drawn from individuals falling within the 25-35 age-group with the rest being a little bit older. Often, lone signups find it easy to gel in easily with the rest of the tour party.

What should I carry along during Bunduz camping tours?

Pocket money, camera and lots of film, torch, toothpaste and brush, covering blanket or sheet for camping tours (in the absence of a sleeping bag), cellphone and charger, mineral water, tissue rolls, camera and lots of film, swimwear (depending on destination), appropriate bush clothing and a friendly attitude. Some destinations will require that signups bring along warm clothing. Be sure to seek confirmation from us first.

What does Bunduz usually provide?

For camping excursions, all camping gear (tent, camping mattress and, in certain special cases, sleeping bags), return transport, meals, camp entry admission, park admission. For other tours such as coastal safaris, meals, accommodation and return transport are covered in cost. The public would usually be advised on what else Bunduz would provide on such tours.
